FAQ

The primary differences between our exclusive masonry stains and paint include durability, breathability and aesthetic appearance. When paint is applied to brick, it saturates the masonry’s pores, preventing it from releasing moisture. Water is trapped behind a non-permeable film that lies on the brick surface, resulting in unsightly blistering and peeling. The Brick Industry Association, a trade association devoted specifically to the clay brick industry, reports that painted masonry may only last between three to five years. Our proprietary brick stains, unlike paint, look natural, are breathable and do not block the evaporation process, and provide longevity that simply cannot be matched by latex or acrylic paints. As brick is a highly porous material, our natural looking masonry stains are formulated to create a chemical bond with brick and will never chip or flake due to moisture trapped within the masonry.

Our proprietary brick stains are absorbed by and integrate with the face of masonry, resulting in a consistent finish that is permanent, looks entirely natural, and is maintenance-free. As brick is a highly porous material, our natural looking masonry stains are formulated to create a chemical bond with brick and will never chip or flake due to moisture trapped within the masonry. Importantly, our masonry staining projects are warranted for 15 years against bubbling, chipping or flaking.

Because our clients have different needs, we have developed a flexible pricing structure that evaluates multiple variables. These include square footage of the area to be stained, whether the mortar is to be colored, the number of colors on each brick, height of the building, location and more.

Tuckpointing is the process of removing and replacing the mortar joints in between brickwork. BrickImaging only specializes in professional brick, block, stone and mortar staining services and does not perform any masonry repairs.

While Denver is home, we do travel outside of Colorado for large commercial real estate masonry staining projects. We do not offer travel outside of the state for residential or small projects at this time.

We take careful precautions when applying and sealing each of our projects to ensure a durable finish. Our breathable top-coat matte sealer is the last step in our process that provides protection against UV damage. Over time, the only noticeable color changes will be those resulting from natural environmental conditions to which the structure is subjected.

BrickImaging only specializes in professional brick, block, stone and mortar staining services and does not retail any of its Stayntech® products at this time.

Paint saturates masonry pores, preventing it from releasing moisture. Water is trapped behind a non-permeable film that lies on the brick surface. We do not apply our proprietary brick stains to painted brick as paint blocks the absorption process. As brick is a highly porous material, our stains are formulated to create a bond with brick and will never chip or flake due to moisture trapped within the masonry. Some surfaces can be stripped of paint and then stained however incorrect methods used for removing paint can cause substantial damage. Please consult with a professional before attempting any type of paint removal from your masonry.
